BACKGROUND

In 2022, the Legislature appropriated $30 million in the Budget Act of 2022 (AB 179) for grants to California Tribes and CBOs for participation in CPUC decision-making processes and supporting activities. The grant program includes:

  • The Public Participation Grant Account provides compensation for participating in CPUC activities such as workshops, panels, and working groups.
  • The Equity, Engagement, and Education Grant Account will award grants up to $200,000 for the purpose of building CBO, Tribal, and community capacity to participate in CPUC decision-making processes via methods such as hiring staff or implementing community education campaigns.
  • The Clean Energy Access Grant Account will award grants up to $500,000 to provide assistance to access three CPUC clean energy programs—Microgrid Incentive Program (MIP), Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), and the Technology and Equipment for Clean Heating (TECH) Initiative.

The most updated information related to the webinar will be posted on www.cpuc.ca.gov/capacitygrants.

While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend the event, no official action will be taken on this matter.
